1/ Applicants holding a foreign degree

2/ What is included in the 5,500€ of tuition fees?

  • Project management courses and other practical courses (e.g. professional development courses in small groups)
  • Our full careers service
  • French language classes scheduled before the beginning of courses
  • Mathcamp : scheduled before the beginning of courses
  • A welcome package by Toulbox in order to facilitate your arrival.


3/ Mathematics requirements

Please note that we are specialized in mathematical economics, micro and macro-economics and econometrics. A high level in mathematics is required.


4/ Language of instruction

  • Undergraduate courses: 100% French language (C1 required) (in Licence 3rd year, there are few courses taught in English).
  • Master courses (standard track): 70% English language and 30% French language (C1 required for both languages).
  • Master courses (international track): 100% English language (C1 required).
  • Master 2nd year, doctoral track: 100% English language (C1 required).

Is TOEFL compulsory for all applicants?

No, it is not. Students who are a English-native speakers or who have obtained a degree (at least two years) at university in an English speaking country are exempted.

TOEFL iBT is appreciated (90/120 minimum score), but IELTS (6.5/10 minimum) or Cambridge English Advanced Certificate (C1 or advanced level) are also accepted.


5/ GRE = Graduate Record Examination

All parts of the exam are required: Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning and Analytical Writting.
There is no minimum score defined. Usually, admitted students have over 165 for the Quantitative Reasoning part of the test. This test is compulsory if you apply with a foreign diploma.

A scanned copy of your results can be joined to your application file.

GMAT score is not required and in no case can be provided instead of GRE.


6/ Recommendation letters

Recommendation letters must be sent by academic referees by email to with the applicant’s full name and file number (TSxxxxxx) in the text of the email.

Each recommendation letter must be submitted as a single PDF file document on an official letterhead with the full name, status and signature of the person who wrote it.


7/ French student’s living expenses (monthly)

Between 200 and 600€: room or flat

150€: food

100€: extra activities, school supplies


8/ Toulbox

In order to facilitate your arrival, TSE offers you the most complete Toul’Box package which provides you a personalized arrival from a pick up at the airport to accommodation booking, bank account opening

The special package ALL IN-TSE is offered by TSE for each new student registered in a Master’s programme, international track. The Toul’box team will contact you in June.


9/ Choice of tracks

I am a TSE Master 1 student. Could I apply for a M2 international track if I am currently following a M1 standard track? 
Yes, you can but note that a C1 level in English is required for admission to attend the international track. Moreover, it will cost 5,500€ for the tuition fees.


10/ Doctoral track

Economics Theory and Econometrics (ETE) is the Master 2 you have to follow if you want to pursue a PhD at TSE.

The other Master 2 programs allow you either to pursue PhD programs in other universities or to start a professional career, as an economist in a company for instance.


11/ How to submit my application material?

All application will be done in a dematerialised format via the online platform eCandidatures.

Paperless application:  you do not have to send your application material neither by email nor by mail, the required documents must be uploaded on eCandidatures at the appropriate space. For the letters of recommendation, GRE and certificate of language, please follow the instructions located on eCandidatures.


12/ Could we start the program in January?

No, you could not. Both Licence and Master programs start in September only.

For Master students, preliminary courses (Mathcamp and French language) start in August.
